The Ness County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday, February 22, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Room. Chairman Jay Harris called the meeting to order with Commissioners, Sandra Y. Rupp, Frederick P. Flax, and County Clerk Renee S. Kerr in attendance.
Minutes of the February 16, 2016 meeting were read and approved.
Road and Bridge
Road and Bridge /Landfill Supervisor Ron Johnson reported on the weekly work schedule.
$130.00 was taken in at the landfill February 9-13, 2016.
460 yards of sand was hauled to roads last week.
Sand pits were discussed.
Road concerns were reviewed.
Machinery maintenance was discussed.
A Federal Fund Exchange Agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation was signed.
Employment Applications were reviewed.
Emergency Preparedness Director Crystal Podlena and the Commission reviewed her schedule for the past several weeks as well as her upcoming schedule. Podlena trained on GIS, printed maps, attended the Northwest Homeland Security Meeting, reviewed the mass fatality plan, hosted and chaired the LEPC meeting, and attended the NW Kansas Healthcare Coalition Table Top Exercise.
A Severe Weather Awareness and Safety Presentation will be held on March 29, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Courtroom at the Courthouse.
The Statewide tornado drill will be held on March 18, 2016.
Motion: Upon the motion of Harris, seconded by Rupp, the Commission voted unanimously to institute a Countywide Burn Ban effective immediately.
Noxious Weed Supervisor Charles Halbleib presented chemical bids.
