The Ness County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday, June 26, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Room. Chairman Sandra Y. Rupp called the meeting to order with Commissioners, Mark Davis, David L. Albers, County Clerk Renee S. Kerr and Temporary Office Clerk Loa Hagelgantz in attendance.
Minutes of the June 19, 2017 meeting were read and approved.
County Clerk, Renee Kerr, took leave of the meeting at this time.
Road and Bridge
Road and Bridge/Landfill Supervisor Ron Johnson and Assistant Supervisor L.D. Ochs filed weekly reports.
Years ago Bull Thistle was placed on the County Noxious Weed List by a previous County Commission. FSA would like to see it taken off the Noxious Weed list. Pros and Cons were reviewed, the Commission agreed to table a decision on whether to remove it from the County list.
$260.00 was received in tipping fees June 13-19, 2017.
320 yards of sand was hauled to roads last week and 1,680 yards of dirt was hauled from the airport to the landfill.
Road conditions were reviewed.
Machinery maintenance was discussed.
Emergency Preparedness Director Travis Rothe presented his activity report. Rothe storm spotted several days, responded to 3 fires that were ignited by lightening, and 1 wheat field fire.
Rothe reported that he has the Credentialing System up and running. 2 IDs will be issued to personnel, the Commission agreed that if more than two are needed that there will be a $20.00 charge. Rothe is deleting previous employees and requests that new employees make an appointment to have an ID made.
Rothe and the Commission discussed not starting Farmer’s Market until the second week of July as produce is not readily available until then.
County Attorney Kevin Salzman and the Commission discussed the research he has done on a potential road, Salzman stated that the reply to the petition doesn’t meet statutory requirements.
Accounts Payable checks and vouchers were reviewed and signed.
