The Ness County Board of Commissioners met in regular session
Monday, July 3, 2017, at 9:20 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Room. Chairman Sandra Y. Rupp called the meeting to order with Commissioners, Mark Davis, David L. Albers, and County Clerk Renee S. Kerr in attendance.
Minutes of the June 26, 2017 meeting were read and approved.
Road and Bridge
Road and Bridge/Landfill Supervisor Ron Johnson and Assistant Supervisor L.D. Ochs filed weekly reports.
$285.00 was received in tipping fees June 20-24, 2017.
660 yards of dirt was hauled from the airport to the landfill. No sand or rock was hauled.
Road conditions were reviewed.
Machinery maintenance was discussed.
Johnson and Ochs are going to discuss cleaning culverts with Road and Bridge Equipment Operators.
The warranty on one of the mowers was discussed. County Attorney Kevin Salzman was consulted about what options the County has if the repairs are not completed to satisfaction.
A construction permit was issued to Rich’s Roustabout Service Inc. Permits are on file at the Road and Bridge Department.
County Sheriff Bryan Whipple filed his reports for the month of June. Sheriff Whipple and the Commission discussed overtime and social media.
Motion: Upon the motion of Davis, seconded by Albers, the Commission voted unanimously to go into executive session for a period of 10 minutes beginning at 11:15 a.m. for the discussion of nonelected personnel. (Albers, Davis, Rupp and Kerr in executive session). Regular session resumed at 11:25 a.m.
Accounts Payable checks and vouchers were reviewed and signed.
County Treasurer Layne Wasinger and the Commission discussed activity in his department.
Motion: Upon the recommendation of County Treasurer Layne Wasinger and County Clerk Renee Kerr, Albers, made a motion seconded by Rupp, to employ Lori Hertel as General Office Clerk beginning at July 10, 2017 at Pay Level 1. Motion carried unanimously.
Payroll time records and reports were reviewed and signed.
