The Ness County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday, January 25, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Room.
Chairman Jay Harris called the meeting to order with Commissioners, Sandra Y. Rupp, Frederick P. Flax, and County Clerk Renee S. Kerr in attendance.
Minutes of the January 18, 2016 meeting were read and approved.
Economic Development Director Anthony Roy presented his schedule for the past week.
Roy updated the website, visited with many individuals throughout the community, worked on ROZ, did research on business incentives, sent changes to Love Small Town America, and listed several job opportunities throughout the county on the Ness County website.
Road and Bridge
Road and Bridge /Landfill Supervisor Ron Johnson and Assistant Chelsae Braun reported on the weekly work schedule.
$350.00 was taken in at the landfill as tipping fees January 12-16, 2016.
Johnson, Braun and the Commission discussed possible locations for sand.
The Commission reviewed employment applications.
Road concerns were reviewed and machinery maintenance was discussed.
Emergency Preparedness/GIS Director Crystal Podlena and the Commission discussed fees for maps, a resolution for establishing map fees, a resolution for mitigation, switching alert system companies, and bill paying.
Bill Scott and the Commission discussed tax increase concerns.
County Attorney Craig Crosswhite and the Commission discussed court cases, delinquent taxes, a leasehold building sold at the delinquent tax sale this year, Kansas Insurance Department correspondence associated with a county fire department.
Accounts Payable checks and vouchers were reviewed and signed.
Linn Kleweno, landowner; Sharla Schwien and Kevin Stoecklein of NRCS; and the Commission discussed the opening of a road.
