The Ness County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday, August 15, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Room. Chairman Sandra Y. Rupp called the meeting to order with Commissioner, Frederick P. Flax, and County Clerk Renee S. Kerr in attendance.
Others Present Mark Davis was also present for the meeting.
Minutes Minutes of the August 8, 2016 meeting and Board of Canvassers were read and approved.
County Appraiser Kelly DesLauriers and the Commission discussed repair of the County pickup.
Motion: Upon the motion of Flax, seconded by Rupp, the Commission voted unanimously to go into executive session for a period of 5 minutes for the discussion of nonelected personnel, beginning at 9:23 a.m. (Flax, Rupp and DesLauriers in executive session).
Regular session resumed at 9:28 a.m.
Road and Bridge
Road and Bridge/Landfill Supervisor Ron Johnson and Assistant Chelsae Braun reported on the weekly work schedule. $260.00 was taken in at the landfill as tipping fees July 26-30, 2016. The road viewing scheduled for today was discussed.
Motion: Upon the motion of Flax, seconded by Rupp, the Commission voted unanimously to go into executive session for a period of 10 minutes for the discussion of nonelected personnel, beginning at 10:08 a.m. (Flax, Rupp, Johnson, Braun and Kerr in executive session).
Regular session resumed at 10:18 a.m.
Road concerns were reviewed. Machinery maintenance was discussed.
Emergency Preparedness Director Crystal Podlena filed her work schedule for the past several weeks. Podlena conducted an LEPC meeting, attended a Homeland Security Meeting, monitored weather and had an entry in the Bazine Picnic.
Sheriff Bryan Whipple presented an application for employment.
Motion: Upon the recommendation of Whipple, Rupp made the motion, seconded by Flax, to hire Cole Stoecklein at pay level 1 beginning August 29, 2016. Sheriff Whipple updated the Commission on activity over the weekend.
County Attorney Craig Crosswhite and the Commission discussed bridges, court cases, and The tax sale.
Motion: Upon the motion of Flax, seconded by Rupp, the Commission voted unanimously to sign Resolution 2016-06 which prohibits the use of labels and stickers for write-ins on election ballots. A/P Accounts Payable checks and vouchers were reviewed and signed. The meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
